Elizabeth Mae

Well, Elizabeth had her three hour eye appointment today. Her eyes have changed, one for the better and one for the worse. UGH! New glasses for us AND not to mention that they are terribly hard to find cute ones. She's growing and so is her face!

We're still here!

I am a very slow blogger... I mean very slow! We have had lots going on, but nothing that any other SAHM doesn't deal with day to day. Sleepless nights, thanks to those leg cramps and night terrors; runny noses, THANK YOU SAN ANTONIO!; then our day to day stuff. School projects, church projects, home projects. I think I am a project manager! Logan has finished a season of Upward Basketball. He had a great time learning skills and playing ball. It was a great program and I recommend it to anyone. www.upward.org

Logan also did mutton bustin' in the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Feb. 6. He had a great time and did well.

Victoria has started piano lessons. She is really enjoying it and seems to be pretty musical.

Alexandria and Elizabeth are busy little three year old girls. There is never a dull moment. They always have something to say! If you aren't listening, they'll just repeat until you do.

Haircuts

Alexandria
Elizabeth

Ok.... it was Elizabeth's second "haircut" but her first time to a salon. Well, we started at a salon. The girls were ready to get a trim (hoping it will actually start to grow!) and they were doing great... until my hair guy walked in. Elizabeth said "Whose that boy?" I told her he was there to cut her hair. She said then "no he's not!" So, after the attempt and the resistance, I gave in and we went to the kid haircut place where a nice lady trimmed their hair while they sat in a fire truck!

Almost Three

Well, the twins are fast approaching three years old! Today I took them to Build A Bear for their pre-birthday treat. They were so thrilled. They've been before, but never without the influence of Logan & Victoria. They had a blast, both picking out exactly what they wanted. It is hard to believe that three years ago I was trying to stay pregnant for just one more month! Now in just a couple of days, they will be three years old. Time flies when you're having fun! Alexandria picked out a pink bear with hearts, named her Heart. Elizabeth picked out the turkey and named her Chicken. Boy do they have quite an imagination!

Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year

I was terrible at getting cards to all. Here's a rundown of our holiday letter!

The Weynand family hit the ground running in 2008. The year began with the second birthday of our twin girls, Alexandria and Elizabeth and the welcoming their newest cousin and our niece, Adalida Jane on the same day, January 10! Celebrating their birthdays was a joyous start to a new year.

A few weeks later, we said goodbye to Alaina's grandmother, Marie McIntosh. She was 82, living in a nursing home in Uvalde. She was ready to go home.

We spend the following few months in our same ole’ routine of work, school, church, etc. In March, we celebrated Vance and his twin brother, Bryan’s 30th birthday with a family party in Castroville. We all had a great time there! The kids especially enjoyed Daddy getting birthday spankings ; )

Before we knew it, summer was here and Alaina found herself looking for ways to keep the kiddos busy. Victoria danced in her second dance recital in June, then decided that she was finished with dance and was ready to move on to something new. We enrolled both Logan and Victoria in Gymnastics and are doing great. Logan is especially enjoying it. They had their first meet in November. Logan brought two first, two second and one third place ribbon in five events. Victoria participated in four events, bringing home one first, two second and a third. They had a great time!

Alaina spend time expanding her photography throughout the summer doing a couple of weddings, one in Rockford, IL and one in Castroville.

The summer flew by. Logan and Victoria both celebrated their birthdays in July, in separate parties this year. Logan had a “boy” party with his buddies and Victoria had a girlie party that involved dressing up in lots of pink and purple. Logan is now seven and in the second grade. He is doing extremely well. He is especially enjoying reading short novels now. His books are his most prized possessions. He is also into another year in the ALPHA (gifted and talented) program where he gets to participate in more advanced and creative projects while at school. Victoria is growing up so fast. She is now five and started kindergarten. She LOVES school. She loves everyone there and can’t wait to go. She is so compassionate towards her peers, even when they aren’t so nice to her. She adores her teacher and we do to. The funniest thing about kinder is that her teacher is Ms. Logan. She was the only kiddo that could spell the teachers name on the first day of school... wonder why? She is so eager to learn and wants to keep up with her big brother. She is doing great in school and as her teacher puts it “a real rule follower.”

Alexandria and Elizabeth are both incredibly head strong and make their own minds up. They are so incredibly different; it is hard to believe they are sisters, much less twin sisters. Alexandria has grown like a weed this year. She is near 40 inches tall, while Elizabeth is a mere 35 inches (if she stretches) on a good day! Alexandria holds things over her head and says things like “you can’t reach it’ and “get your own” while Elizabeth reaches with all her might, but it just isn’t enough. Don’t let Elizabeth’s lack of size fool you; she’s quite a pistol. She is the quiet, sneaky one. If the room gets quiet, it is best to look for her. She’s likely giving herself a manicure, facial with Elmer’s glue, or enjoying a nice ice cream cone from the freezer at breakfast.... all obtained on her own. Alexandria is our extreme girlie girl. She LOVES pink and must wear it every day. She is prim and prissy, not to mention a nonstop talker. Dirty looks are her specialty. She has the look of total disgust down to an art. She rarely has time to explain what she needs or wants, because she is an “I’ll do it myself” girl. Elizabeth is also equally as independent; only she spends most of her day looking for trouble at its max. She is either hiding, or climbing to her next task of mischievous behavior. When she is not quietly finding something to get into, she is in full chatter or total belly laugh. People keep telling us that the twins are getting easier. Easier is not how we’d describe it. They are only getting smarter and not only one step ahead of us, but leaps and bounds. They started their first year at Mothers Day Out in August and are loving it. They are familiar with the school, because it is the same one that Logan and Victoria went to.

In September we added a new member to our family, Lily. She is a silver and black dapple mini dachaund. She is the sweetest little thing and the children all enjoy her very much. Victoria has claimed her as her very own and does most of the care taking of her. She is a good little dog mommy to Lily. Our old lady cocker spaniel, Abby, even has enjoyed having her around. She’s nine and suddenly much more spunky that she’s been in a few years.

We are still extremely involved in our church. We’ve made some treasured friendships in our church family. Alaina is in her second year as the MOPS (Mother’s of Preschoolers) Coordinator that meets twice a month. We help with the various children’s ministry activities that come up along the way. Vance is on the building development committee that meets to expand and update our currently facility. Logan was asked to read scripture during our service and did wonderfully, as he emphasized, he wasn’t nervous at all. He did a beautiful job and we were quite proud of him. He stood in front of a crowd of over 300 and didn’t miss a single word. Alexandria and Elizabeth made the official move from the nursery classes to the preschool class in September. They are doing great! The kids have made some great friends and look forward to going to church.

September 6, Vance’s baby (and only) sister, Joanne, got married. We welcomed Matt Perry into the family. Logan, Victoria, Alexandria and Elizabeth all were attendants in the wedding. We had a great time planning and preparing for their special day. The children did well and the wedding was beautiful. It was a traditional Castroville wedding. At the reception, we were able to also celebrate Vance’s grandmother’s 83rd birthday.

One afternoon in mid-October Vance came home early, and seemingly not so happy. It is the fear that so many are experiencing, as our economy is not doing well. Vance was one of over 50 people at his company who was laid off. The lay off turned out to be a blessing. It was hard to remember at the time, but God had a plan for our family and we needed to be patient to see what His plan was. Vance began interviewing the very next week and was had options. He weighed them heavily and decided to go with a company that is based out of Maryland, but still getting to live and work out of San Antonio. It is a change of pace for him. He now drives less than five miles to work every day, instead of 25 he was doing, in terrible traffic. Along with the new job, we were flown to Baltimore for their annual holiday party and had the opportunity to do some site seeing in Washington D.C. (all while the children were back in Texas). God is awesome and we thank him for what he has given us. One lesson that we were taught in this situation was to be patient with Him and less controlling of our own lives.

That leaves us near the end of 2008. As packed as 2008 was, it was full of life’s little lessons! May God bless you in 2009!

Blessings to you and yours,
Vance, Alaina, Logan, Victoria, Alexandria & Elizabeth Weynand

Thanksgiving so soon....

Boy am I glad Vance is back at work... he is too. He has taken a job with a company out of Maryland working on local San Antonio jobs as their site engineer. He has been there all of one week and is really enjoying it so far. His great aunt said "for better or worse, but not for lunch!" That cracks me up every time I think of it. She said that when her husband retired. Vance was home with us about six weeks and as much as I enjoyed having him around ALL day long.... it was nice to have him back to work! :)

The kiddos start their Thanksgiving break... They reminded me over and over this morning when I dropped them off at school.... "We will be home a whole week!" I reminded them we have LOTS to do. We are hosting the Weynand/Rock families (Vance's family) and we'll have in the range of 25 here for lunch. It will be fun! The kids really like to help so it may be more fun than I can stand! : )

We attempted to take some Christmas card photos last night. I can get great shots of other peoples kiddos... but mine... another story! I have included a few.

While taking photos, I also attempted the Wilson Kiddos pics. They are way too cute! Check out the sisterly love in this one...
